It is with deep sorrow that Mrs. Jacquelyn Rosensteel and family announce the death of Mr. Robert Eugene Rosensteel, 87. Mr. Rosensteel, the son of Robert and Josephine Rosensteel, entered into rest on Monday, July 6, 2026. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 10:30 in the morning on Thursday, July 9th, 2026, in The Chapel of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Owens officiating. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service. He was baptized at Kelleytown Baptist Church and Robert’s Christian faith served as the foundation of his life. He pursued higher education with determination, earning degrees in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University and The Ohio State University, preparing for a distinguished career in public service. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army before continuing his lifelong commitment to protecting others through his work with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. Through decades of dedicated service, he worked to safeguard the health and well-being of countless individuals, ultimately retiring with the rank of Captain. For 62 wonderful years, Robert shared a loving and devoted marriage with his beloved wife, Jacquelyn. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and unwavering commitment to one another. Outside of his career, Robert found joy on the golf course and was a devoted supporter of North Carolina State athletics, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on the Wolfpack in basketball and football. His enthusiasm for his alma mater reflected the same loyalty and pride that characterized every aspect of his life. Robert deeply loved his country and took great pride in serving it with honor. Yet above all his accomplishments and passions, nothing meant more to him than his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving family man, and a faithful friend whose strength, integrity, and quiet example will continue to inspire those who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Jacquelyn Hough Rosensteel; daughters, Shari (Keith) Stubbs, Cammie (David) Ziegler; grandchildren, Benson (Abby) Stubbs, Sarah Ziegler, Matt Ziegler. Along with his parents, Mr. Rosensteel was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Ginger Sue Rosensteel, brother, WillIam "Bill" Rosensteel; and sister, Dorothy Wittman.
