Mr. Ralph Curtis Wase

Ralph Curtis Wase, 94, of Hartsville, South Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2026. Born on October 31, 1931, Ralph was the beloved son of James and Margaret Wase. He lived a life marked by faith, kindness, service, and a genuine love for people. Ralph devoted 43 years of service to Sonoco, where he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of colleagues. He was a proud member of the Old Timers Club, cherishing the camaraderie it provided. A faithful and longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Ralph served in many roles throughout the years. His faith was not only something he professed but something he lived daily. His greatest passion was caring for others—visiting, encouraging, and praying with those in hospitals, nursing homes, and families grieving the loss of loved ones. He faithfully served as a Chaplain at Carolina Pines Hospital for 23 years, touching countless lives through compassion and prayer. Ralph was known for his joyful spirit and active lifestyle. He was an avid golfer, especially admired for his putting game, and a graceful dancer who taught dance lessons. He enjoyed working out at the YMCA, followed by a cup of coffee, where he welcomed everyone who entered—always ready with a smile, conversation, and encouragement. He is survived by his loving children, daughter Terry Brown (Pat) and son Johnny Wase (Leslie) of Florence; grandchildren Will Brown (Becca), Drew Brown, Kendall Wase, and Emily Wase; and great-granddaughter Riley Brown. He is also survived by his sister, Diane Watson of Garden City, a special niece, Terry King, who helped him in so many ways and meant more to him than words can express, and other nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Charles Wase and Martin “Buddy” Wase; and his sisters, Louise O’Neal, Dorothy Rakestraw, and Patricia Haynes. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Ralph will be remembered as a man of deep faith, gentle strength, and unwavering kindness—a servant of God whose life was devoted to loving, encouraging, and praying for others.
