Mrs. Patsy Penny Wase

It is with deep sorrow that Mrs. Gloria Wase White announces the death of her beloved mother, Patsy Penny Wase. Mrs. Wase, the widow of Charles Howard Wase, entered into rest on Thursday, May 16, 2024. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A graveside funeral service to honor her life will be held at 11 o'clock on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Westview Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Brad White, The Rev. John "Bootsie" Griggs, and The Rev. Tom McCrea will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at the residence, 210 Golden Sunset Drive, Hartsville, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Gathering Place, Church of the Nazarene, 1909 W. Bobo Newsom Highway, Hartsville, SC 29550. Mrs. Wase was born on February 2, 1937, in Mullins, SC. She was the daughter of the late Zachery Taylor Penny and the late Leola Long Penny. She loved roller skating, where she met the love of her life, Charles, her husband of 62 years. A true southern lady, she loved opening her home to entertain family and friends and especially for the youth of her church for pool parties. She and her late husband Charles enjoyed traveling together to their beach house or many trips to the mountains, especially hiking Big Glassy Mountain in North Carolina. Patsy had special artistic talent that could been seen through her paintings and pottery. A woman of strong faith, she loved her Savior and spending time growing in her knowledge of the Bible. Even in her last few weeks on earth, she would pray for God’s will to be done in her life. She is survived by her loving daughter, Gloria Wase White of Hartsville, SC; brother-in-law, Ralph Wase of Hartsville, SC, David Haynes of Hartsville, SC; Diane Watson of Garden City, grandchildren, Rev. James Bradley (April) White, Michael Kevin White (Tamara); great-grandchildren, Hannah Kate White, Emma Grace White, Michael Eli White; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Christopher "Chris" Wase; brother, Bob Penny; sisters, Gloria Penny Causey, Doris Penny, Francis Godfrey; brother-in-law, James Martin "Buddy" Wase (Faye); sisters-in-law, Louise O’Neal of Hartsville, SC, Dorothy Rakestraw of Blue Springs, MS, and Patricia Haynes of Hartsville, SC.
