It is with deep sorrow that the Tedder family announces the death of their beloved mother, Mrs. Nina Groce Tedder, 84. Mrs. Tedder, the widow of Tommy Leo Tedder, entered into rest on Thursday, August 8, 2024. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A graveside funeral service to honor her life will be held at 2 o'clock on Sunday, August 11, 2024, in Wesley Chapel Methodist Church of Lydia Cemetery. The Rev. John "Bootsie" Griggs will officiate, and the family will receive friends immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601, or MUSC Children's Hospital, 169 Ashley Avenue, Charleston, SC 29425. Mrs. Tedder was born on April 26, 1940, in Elizabethton, TN. She was the daughter of the late James Edward Groce, Sr., and the late Virgie Lewis Groce. Nina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to many. Many would know her as "Nana." Nana and Poppy were their grandchildren's biggest supporters. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and all of her animals. Nina retired from Sonoco after 28 years. She was a member of the Sonoco Old Timers Club and the Rose Trellis Garden Club. She met Tommy at the age of 18 in Hartsville, SC, where they resided their entire marriage. They are having a joyous reunion in heaven. She is survived by her children, Lisa (Mark) Jackson of Swansea, SC, Trent Tedder of Hartsville, Shawn (David Walters) Manuel of Hartsville, SC, Brandon (Leigh) Tedder of Hartsville, SC; grandchildren, Thomas (Courtney) Manuel of Hartsville, SC, Kelley (Mason) Mixon of Florence, SC, Kristin (Ethan) Holland of Bishopville, SC, Ellen (Ryan Flintrop) Tedder of Darlington, SC, Michael (Katelyn) Jackson of Swansea, SC, Ryleigh Tedder of Hartsville, SC, Braydon Tedder of Hartsville, SC; three great-grandchildren, T.J. Manuel of Hartsville, SC, Adalyn and Jameson Mixon of Florence, SC; sisters, Becky (Bub) Cutshaw, Janet Melton, Leslie Cline, Vera (Larry) Farmer, Sarah (Gary) Dye; brother, Jimmy (Debbie) Groce. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Leo Tedder, and her sister, Edna Ruth Groce. The family would like to thank Judy Fox and McLeod Hospice for caring for Nina during her illness.
