Miss Lily Jaramillo Rainey

Lily Jaramillo Rainey was three years, nine months and one day when she went to her heavenly home on March 13, 2023. She was at home surrounded by her mom, dad, and big brother when she took her last breath. She was born in Annapolis, MD, on June 12, 2019, without any hope to survive, but she persisted because God had a purpose for her life and carried her through it all. From that moment on, Lily became a force of nature. She defied all the odds and diagnoses. Her main condition was Trisomy 18 also known as Edwards Syndrome. Lily had the best quality of life! She loved, laughed, enjoyed cuddles, and yelled at you if you did not do what she said. She had a very strong personality–some would say like her mother. One of Lily’s superpowers was bringing people together to pray to God and make them realize how to live life to the fullest with God by their side. Her favorite Bible verse was Numbers 6:24-26: The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace. God was with Lily all her life, and He was there until she breathed her last. His promises kept her, and His love for her is immeasurable. Lily’s favorite activities were stroller racing on the streets of the Bay City neighborhood (very illegal), singing and smashing toys, spinning around with daddy, holding hands, nose rubs, kisses, and tons of attention. In addition, she enjoyed her weekly parties with her favorite therapists, Kim, Lindsey, Abbi, and Gwynn, singing her favorite song: “The Wheels on the Bus.” Lily’s favorite foods were lollipops, pork drippings, and sucking her finger. She had many names, but her favorites were Pooh, Lil’ Lilz, LilyBoo, and “T” for Tough Cookie. She loved her toys and cuddling with her stuffies. Lily was loved by all her providers from Children’s National Medical Center and Johns Hopkins Children’s Center who supported her throughout her life as well as Compass Hospice, who supported her through her death. Lily especially loved her pediatrician, Dr. Kalliongis (“Dr. K”), who was one of her guardian angels, godfather, super fan, the first person to hold her and was with her to say goodbye. Lily is survived by her parents, Paola Jaramillo Cienfuegos and Cameron Scott Rainey; her big brother, Scott Bourdon Rainey; her grandparents, Miriam Jaramillo, Tonya Rainey, and Marion Rainey; her uncle, Jonathan Rainey; great-grandparents, Rev. Macon Walton and Cora McMinn; great aunt and uncle, Bruce Rainey and Anne Rainey; and wonderful nurses, Ms. Lerena Henry and Ms. Pamela Thomas. Lily, we love you and miss you every day. We look forward to seeing you in heaven.
