Mrs. Jerry Forte Hall

It is with deep sorrow that the Hall family announces the death of Mrs. Jerry Christine Forte Tyson Hall, 90. Mrs. Hall, the widow of Clyburn Eugene "Gene" Hall, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in her home surrounded by loved ones. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 11 o'clock on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at West Hartsville Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Kevin Walters and The Rev. Dr. Bev Kennedy will officiate, with burial to follow in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in her honor to West Hartsville Baptist Church, 1003 West Carolina Ave. Hartsville, SC 29550. Mrs. Hall was born on Wednesday, December 25, 1935, in Hartsville, SC. She is the daughter of the late Jarvis "Jake" Bennett Forte and the late Zeda Elinor Dunn Forte. She Graduated from Hartsville High School in 1954 and from Carolina College of Commerce. She was married to Bobby Franklin Tyson from 1955 to 1958. This union was born a son, Frank. She was married to Clyburn Eugene "Gene" Hall from November 1, 1968, until his passing in 2024. This union was born a son, Ashley Bennett Hall. Jerry worked for International Mineral and Chemical (IMC) in Hartsville as a secretary from 1955 to 1974. After IMC, she worked for the Personnel Department for Sonoco from 1974 until her retirement in 1994. Jerry is remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother. She enjoyed traveling and seeing the world with Gene. Especially several trips to New York City. None so memorable as a Christmas and 75th birthday celebration in the "Big Apple" with family and friends. Many global trips gave her diverse friendships and an elephant collection. She loved Sheephead fishing and enjoyed family vacations at Garden City and the Isle of Palms. She was a member of numerous Bridge and Garden Clubs. As a member of West Hartsville Baptist Church, she served on the church choir, cooking committee, and youth group. She is survived by her loving sons, Bobby Franklin "Frank" Tyson, Jr. (Faith) of Hartsville, SC, and Ashley Bennett Hall (Courtney); grandson, Trace Michael Malphus of Hartsville, SC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Zeda Margo Wilkes; brother-in-law, Craig R. Wilkes (Buddy).
