It is with deep sadness that the Goodson family shares the passing of Jeanne Wilhelm Goodson, 74, a cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of so many people. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 4 o'clock on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at First Baptist Church, 104 East Home Avenue, Hartsville, SC 29550, with The Rev. Dr. Gregory B. Boyd officiating. Friends and loved ones are invited to visit with the family from 4:30 until 7:30 pm on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at their home, 708 Prestwood Drive, Hartsville, SC 29550. Memorials may be made in her honor to the Darlington County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1655, Hartsville, SC 29551, or First Baptist Church, 104 E. Home Avenue, Hartsville, SC 29550. Jeanne was born on January 28, 1950, in Hartsville, SC. She was the daughter of the late Geraldine Cook Wilhelm Evans and the late Harry Wilson Wilhelm, Sr. Jeanne was a woman whose life was too full, too radiant, to be captured in just one paragraph. Her story unfolds like a series of captivating short tales -- each more magical than the last -- stories that you never wanted to end, and that left you wishing you could live as she did: fully, joyfully, and with boundless love. Wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, grandmother, aunt, daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, Sunday school teacher, chef, etiquette coach, and friend; Jeanne wore many crowns, and in each role, she was a queen. Her beauty wasn't just in her appearance but in how she touched every life she encountered, leaving glittering traces of joy wherever she went. Jeanne had an effortless grace, extending her hand to invite you into a world, whoever you were, where unconditional love sparkled in every corner. In Jeanne's world, laughter was abundant, the food unforgettable, and time seemed to slow down so you could savor each precious moment. She made life a celebration. Whether she was hosting a holiday that felt like a fairy tale, serving a meal that became the best meal you ever had, or throwing a party that danced with joy and children's laughter everywhere, Jeanne had a magical way of turning the ordinary into something truly extraordinary. Her Christmas Tree was the BEST, just as every Christmas Eve was more dazzling than the last, every outfit perfectly chosen with her signature bow and lipstick, and every gathering a memory you would treasure forever. To be in her presence was to feel the best version of life unfold before you. To be her husband, son, nephew, niece, grandchild, daughter-in-law, friend, or student, the best version of you unfolded. Even as illness crept into her final days, Jeanne's strength and grace never wavered. She carried on, not wanting to burden Bobby, Robert, or Will and those she loved, and instead continued living with the same radiant spirit with Ms. Cheryl by her side. It was as if the magic she brought to life couldn't be dimmed by anything -- not even death. Fittingly, as Jeanne left this world, the sky above Prestwood Lake, near her residence, graced those who loved her with a final, spectacular gift: a double rainbow. A sign that even the heavens acknowledged her passing -- a reflection of the wonder and beauty she gave to the world. Jeanne's life is still unfolding through everyone who carries on her traditions. Her legacy lives in the way we strive to make every moment count, to ensure every meal is the best, and to fill every room with the same love and joy that she brought to hers. She reminds us all to live life as she did: fully, fearlessly, and with a dash of magic in everything we do. Jeanne's world is one you never want to leave -- and we never will. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Hudson Goodson, Jr. of Hartsville, SC; sons, Robert Hudson Goodson, III (Meg) of Hartsville, SC, Harry Wilhelm Goodson, Sr. of Celebration, FL; grandchildren, Harry Wilhelm Goodson, Jr., Chloe Jane Moore, Charley Dunlap Moore, Isabel Camdyn Moore; brother, Harry Wilson Wilhelm, Jr. of The Villages, FL. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Thomas E. Goodson, Sr. of Hartsville, SC; sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Goodson Wideman (William B. Wideman, Jr.) of Marietta, GA; nieces, Hollis Wilhelm Page (Johnny); nephews, Thomas E. Goodson, Jr. (Blaire), John Austin Goodson (Brittany), William B. Wideman, III (Natalie), David Adam Wideman (Paula), and Thomas Rutledge Wideman; many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece, Natali Mariah Wilhelm; sister-in-law, Anne Axson Goodson.
