Mr. Eldon Earl Anfinson

Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Eldon Earl Anfinson, 71, who passed away peacefully on Friday, May 25, 2018, will be held at 11 o'clock on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Fr. Dan Papineau officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is serving the family. Eldon was born July 30, 1946, in Mankato, Minnesota, to the late Earl and Florence Hanson Anfinson. He met the love of his life, Susan Lenz, and became married on September 30, 1967. They were married for 50 years and pursued a common goal of raising their three children together. Eldy will be remembered first and foremost, as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He devoted his life to others, always putting their needs before his own. Eldy served as an army reservist for 6 years and began his career in the manufacturing industry in 1966 with Continental Can Company in Mankato, MN. In 1976, he transferred to Memphis, TN, and was employed by Boise Cascade Corporation/Sonoco at the Presidents Island facility. Eldy eventually retired from Sonoco in Wausau, WI, and moved with his wife to South Carolina to enjoy their children and grandchildren. After retiring, he began a second career with Terminix and his final retirement brought him to Hartsville. He lived for the outdoors and was passionate about landscaping and yard maintenance. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and during his quiet time enjoyed puzzles and games. Eldon is survived by his wife (Susan); his three children, Scott Michael Anfinson (Misty) of Bluffton, SC, Jennifer Anfinson Bittner of Windermere, FL, and Jason Earl Anfinson (Corina) of Hartsville; his siblings, Marjorie Anfinson Fiemeyer (Duane) of Courtland, MN, Nancy Anfinson Ulrich (Orval) of Porter, MN, and Debra Anfinson Gravelle of Lake Crystal, MN; his eight grandchildren, Kalvin Anfinson, Alison Anfinson, Kayla Anfinson, Matthew Bittner, Collin Anfinson, Nicholas Bittner, Jackson Bittner, and Kelsey Anfinson; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express special gratitude to the cardiopulmonary rehabilitation team at Carolina Pines Regional Hospital, Morningside of Hartsville, and the loving staff with Agape Hospice of Hartsville.
