It is with deep sorrow that the Wilks family announces the death of Mrs. Doris Nell Anderson Wilks, 87. Mrs. Wilks entered into rest on Friday, April 24, 2026. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 1 o'clock on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in The Chapel of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home, with The Rev. Donnie Faulkenberry and The Rev. Michelle Wilks officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private family graveside service will be held in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery, with The Rev. David Wilks officiating. Mrs. Wilks was born on Saturday, August 13, 1938, in Chesterfield Co., SC. She is the daughter of the late Steve Anderson and the late Laura Jenkins Anderson. She was a member of Brown Springs Baptist Church in Patrick, SC. She enjoyed yard work, gardening, growing beautiful flowers, and restoring antiques. She was a fan of country music, especially Loretta Lynn and Elvis. Her favorite movie was Coal Miner’s Daughter, and she loved collecting beautiful baby dolls. She loved her family and all of her neighbors. She was always going above and beyond for her neighbors in need. She was a devoted wife and mother, and she loved her sisters and brother, always thinking about them. She loved all of her grandchildren very much. She loved cooking for her family each day. She was a wonderful cook, and she loved the holidays. She is survived by her loving husband, David Wilks of Hartsville, SC; sons, Tony (Kay) Wilks of Camden, SC, Randy (Gail) Wilks of Hartsville, SC; daughter, Doris Ann “Sissy” Wilks of Hartsville, SC; sisters, Coleen Simpson of Hartsville, SC, Judy Key of Kannapolis, NC, Barbara Lambert of Kannapolis, NC; brother-in-law, E. M. Wilks of Hartsville, SC; grandchildren, David (Barbara) Wilks of Chesterfield, SC; Bridget (Brad) Hearn of Anderson, SC, Amy (Sal) Pace of Hartsville, SC, Brian (Angela) Wilks of San Francisco, CA, Ryan (Ken) Heustess of Hartsville, SC, Matthew Wilks of China, Jillian (Grayson) Catoe of Elgin, SC, Savannah (Josh) VandenOever of Camden, SC, and Andrew VandenOever of Lubbock, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she adored; She was blessed to have ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Junior Anderson of Kannapolis, NC, and her sister, Pearly Hunter of Kannapolis, NC.
