Mr. Dalton Wayne Boone

It is with deep sorrow that Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Wayne and Maryann Gandy Boone, and their family, announce the death of their beloved son, Mr. Dalton Wayne Boone, 25. Mr. Boone entered into rest on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 1 o'clock on Saturday, February 7, 2026, in The Gathering Place Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Tom McRea will officiate with burial to follow in Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to St. Luke Methodist Church, c/o Troop 523, 302 Dunlap Drive, Hartsville, SC 29550. Mr. Boone was born on Monday, May 15th, 2000, in Hartsville, SC. He is the son of Jerry Wayne Boone and Maryann Gandy Boone. Dalton, a graduate of Hartsville High School, was considered the class clown, but was very smart, outgoing, funny, and left a great impression on others. Dalton never met a stranger; he loved meeting new people on his adventures. He loved his family dearly and loved to get everyone stirred up. He was a very kind-hearted, gentle soul, and very helpful to others. In elementary school, he joined Pack 523 Cub Scouts. He continued in the Boy Scouts, Troop 523, through high school, where he earned his Eagle Scout Award. Dalton respected the brotherhood of scouting. Over the years, he came to love, respect, and honor the lessons that were taught. He enjoyed all the adventures that came with scouting. He loved hiking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, and helping his brother scouts with any badges or projects they needed. It was his love of adventures and camping that he found his passion for becoming an over-the-road truck driver. At the age of 21, he went to truck driver school (passed) with Prime Trucking, where he started his own company, D&J Logistics LLC. Later, he went to work with ARD Trucking, but missed the open road. Dalton missed his adventures so much that he went to work with JS Helwing & Sons out of Texas. He is survived by his parents, Jerry (Ann) Boone of Hartsville, SC; brother, Thomas (Megan) Boone of Cary, NC; sister, Ashley Boone of Hartsville, SC; half-sister and niece of SC; grandmother, Mary Gandy of Hartsville, SC, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.
