Mrs. Brenda Huchel

It is with deep sorrow that the Reed family announces the death of Mrs. Brenda Huchel, 73. Brenda entered into rest on Sunday, February 1, 2026. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 1 o’clock on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Rivers of Living Water Church. The Rev. Tom Gainey will officiate, with burial to follow in Rivers of Living Water Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers are Torey Filyaw, Derrick Filyaw, Jason Filyaw, Jerry Osmundson, Joe Osmundson, Owen Reed, Spencer Selmon, and Alec Reed. Brenda Huchel passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on October 28, 1952, in Sumter, SC. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Belton Bagnal Jr. and the late Lillie Mae Floyd Holland. Brenda was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was defined by quiet strength, deep love for her family, and a caring heart. She faced life's challenges with resilience and grace, never losing her warmth or compassion for others. She was known for her love of home, family, and the simple comforts of being with the people she loved most. Brenda’s presence brought a sense of calm and steadiness, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She is survived by her loving family who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her, sons; Rob (Shelia) Reed of Aynor, SC, Shawn (Penny) Reed of Hartsville, SC; daughter, Tracy (Paul) Evans of McBee, SC; grandchildren, Spencer (Dorothy) Selmon, Lauren Gainey, Alec (Katlyn) Reed, Mallory (Brandon) McInville, Owen Reed; great-grandcildren, Kaston Henning, Sterling Henning, Issac Selmon, Harrison McInville, Aidan Reed, Jonah Selmon; sisters, Carolyn Filyaw of New Zion, SC, and Debbie McMinn of Georgia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Wanda Pineda, Judy Griggs, and Cynthia Welch; and her granddaughter, Zoe Evans. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the hospice team and caregivers for their compassion and care during Brenda’s final days. Brenda will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held close in the hearts of those who loved her.
