Mrs. Brenda Freeman Barr

Funeral services for Brenda Freeman Barr, 66, will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ken Hughes will officiate the family will receive friends following the service in the Chapel. Mrs. Barr died Saturday, February 1, 2014. Born in Hartsville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Otis and Minay Hall Freeman. She enjoyed working with the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, and Sunday School Activities. Sewing was a gift and a passion and she felt at home greeting people into "the sewing room" at Fifth Street Cleaners. Lastly, she also enjoyed working in her yards and had a great love for her children and for her grandchildren. It has been said that "All life is created by God and bears His signature". It is also said, "A sunset in one land is a sunrise in another". If both of these are true, and We believe them to be, then please join our family in rejoicing that our Heavenly Father mercifully finished writing the preface of my Mom's biography Saturday night with us by her side. It was an incredibly peaceful moment and Her last breath was taken in true Brenda-style; filled with dignity, full of grace, and the same touch of stubbornness that she has handled her life and each of her battles. Fortunately, because of Mom's steadfast belief in our Savior, God also started Chapter 1 of the same book with the sentence, "She looked into my eyes and touched my Son's nail-scarred hands." I'm unsure how and when God will finish writing each of our prefaces but I know with certainty that He'll never finish Mom's book because, thankfully, it has no ending - just endless happy, happy, happy moments. Pam and I are sincerely grateful for every prayer, every hug, and every ounce of love that has been poured over our mom and our entire family and we hope to have details to you as soon as possible regarding how we intend to honor her life and celebrate the fact that she has been healed for eternity. With endless gratitude we hope you too, will Stand Firm and Finish Strong, just as our mom did. Sincerely, Pam and Todd.
