Mr. Timothy Benjamin Northcutt III
June 3, 1964 - May 5, 2022
Timothy Benjamin Northcutt III, 57, of Lexington died May 5, 2022. Born in Sumter, he was the son of Ruby Scurry Northcutt and Timothy "TB" Northcutt Jr. He was a Continuous Improvement expert with 36 years of experience in the nuclear industry. He was a summa cum laude graduate of Limestone College and later received his Senior Reactor Operator certification from V.C. Summer. While his occupation was in Continuous Improvement, he moonlighted in his dream job as a day trader. Tim was the biggest Depeche Mode fan, but a lover of all music. He enjoyed skateboarding downtown and at Columbia's Riverfront Park, as well as finding new places to play pinball. Tim loved to cook, but more than that, he enjoyed feeding people - unless it was expensive chocolates, which he hoarded and said "were too good to eat." Feeding those he loved was love to him. Tim was an awesome storyteller with great delivery and a self-proclaimed comedian. He loved to laugh and lived to make others laugh. Tim had a funny, but perfectly fitted, nickname for everyone he met. Tim liked nice things but, at heart, he was a simple man who could live on hotdogs and fried bologna sandwiches. Tim is survived by Laura Lane-Northcutt of Lexington; daughters, Mallory Northcutt McCoy (Eric) of Columbia, Caroline Northcutt of Hartsville, and Stella Northcutt of Lexington; a brother, Clifton Sumner (Karen) of Lake Gaston, North Carolina; a granddaughter, Olive McCoy, of Columbia; a nephew, Chase Sumner, of Winchester, Virginia; a niece, Paige Dodson (Mark) of Virginia Beach, Virginia and extended family of South Georgia. A celebration of Tim's life will be held at West Columbia's Savage Craft (Center Street) in the Armory Building from 2:00 -5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14. In lieu of a traditional service, we ask all friends and family to come prepared to share their special memories and stories about Tim with everyone. Flowers are appreciated, but in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Animal Rescue Carolina (ARC) as well, where Tim adopted his cat, Sugar. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.elmwoodfhcolumbia.com for the Northcutt family. Posted as courtesy to local family and friends.
