It is with deep sadness that the family announces the death of Theodore “Nelson” Gainey III, 55. Nelson entered into rest on Monday, January 31, 2022. Born in Hartsville, SC, he was the son of Beatrice Griggs Gainey and the late Theodore (Pedro) Gainey, Jr. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date. He is survived by his loving daughters, Cassie Gainey Mincey (Bradley) and Tayler Gainey, both of Myrtle Beach; Mother, Beatrice Griggs Gainey, of Hartsville; grandchildren Lucian, Olivia & Hyatt; sister, Darlene Gainey Smith (Garvis)of Hartsville; brother David Allen Gainey (Tammy) of Hartsville; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. In addition to his father, Theodore (Pedro) Gainey, Jr, Nelson was preceded in death by his grandparents Theodore Nelson & Elizabeth Howle Gainey; Gary & Ruth O’Neal Griggs. Nelson was a loving father who adores his daughters. He was a devoted son, caring brother, and a kind and compassionate friend to many. We will miss his lively spirit, kind heart and generosity. Nelson was quiet but his humor set the stage for a special togetherness that only he could offer. He will live in our memories through his enthusiasm and love for God.
