A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Thelma Nix Smith, 94, who entered into rest on Sunday, October 4, 2020, will be held at 11 o'clock on Thursday, October 8, 2020, in Piedmont Cemetery. The Rev. Cliff Satterwhite will officiate, and the family will receive friends following the service. The family kindly asks that guests adhere to Covid-19 protocols for the service. Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Directors are caring for the family. Born in Satolah, GA, on March 7, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Rev. James Oscar Nix and Marguerite Neely Nix. Mrs. Smith was a Registered Nurse, serving in various capacities in South Carolina. She was a Southern Baptist. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Smith, and nine loving brothers and sisters. She is survived by her brother, Bill (Connie) Nix of Thomasville, NC, and loving nieces and nephews. "Aunt Thelma" will always be remembered for her generous spirit, her love for her family, and her healthy sense of humor. The family would like to express their appreciation to the caring professional staff and friends at BTU Nursing Home.
