It is with deep sorrow that the King and McLeod families announce the death of Mrs. Suzanne Butler McLeod, 93. Mrs. McLeod, the widow of Thomas Roland King, Sr., and Alexander Campbell McLeod, entered into rest peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 26, 2023. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 2 o'clock on Sunday, January 29, 2023, in McBee Cemetery, with The Rev. Mark Dickinson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to the Annie S. McLeod Scholarship Fund, c/o McBee Presbyterian Church, PO Box 570, McBee, SC 29101, or Edventure Hartsville, 146 W. Carolina Avenue, Hartsville, SC 29550. Born in Charlotte, NC, on July 11, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Chalmers McKorel Butler and Flora Christine McNair Butler. She grew up in Hartsville, SC, and lived most of her life in McBee, SC. She was a graduate of Hartsville High School and Coker College. She is survived by her daughters, Chris King Goff (Jimmy) of Winter Park, FL, Sally King Wallace (Wayne) of McBee, SC, Susan King Moore (Tim) of McBee, SC; son, Thomas Roland King, Jr. (Rebecca) of McBee, SC; grandchildren, Lauren Braddock (Derek), Anna Moore, Patrick Wallace (Taylor), Connor Wallace, Andrew Wallace, Tom King (Ashley), Alaina King, Amelia King, Arleigh King, Audrey King; great-grandchildren, Jackson Wallace, Grayson Moore, Callie Braddock; brother, Dr. Chalmers M Butler (Mary); nephew, Hardy Butler (Rachel); great-nieces, Elizabeth Butler, and Caroline Butler. Mrs. McLeod is also survived by step-children, Kemp (Gaie) McLeod, Cathy (Tom) Grogan, Beth (Cleve) Watford, and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 26 years, Thomas Roland King Sr., and her second husband of 18 years, Alexander Campbell McLeod. The family expresses appreciation to Regency Southerncare Hospice and to Lillie (Pat) Hughes, Stacy Wright, Shala Sands, and Torrie Griggs for the loving care given to their mother preceding her death.
