The memorial service for Ronnie Lynn Grant will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at St. Luke Methodist Church, with Pastor Charles Phillips and The Rev. Dr. Bev Kennedy officiating. A Celebration of Life will be at 4:00 pm at the Doghouse Hunt Club, 4482 Leavensworth Road, Society Hill, SC. For those unable to attend the Celebration of Life, a brief visitation will be held immediately following the service at the church. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. The world deflated a little on January 19, 2022, at 6:00 pm as Ronnie Lynn Grant peacefully entered Heaven at age 73. As an avid hunter and fisherman, he proudly displayed his hunting and fishing collections, much to the dismay of his wife of 51 years, Debra Ann Severance. He took extreme pride in his children, son, Kevin “Stump” Grant (Megan and daughter, Claire), and daughter, Kourtney Shea Grant until his greatest treasures arrived, Averie and Carter. He was born on December 19, 1948, in Sumter, SC, the son of the late Bill and Florrie Grant, the oldest of the six siblings, CW (Lynn), Billy (Sheila), Chris, Teri (Bryan), Sonja (Ray). With more than 50 years at Sonoco and Ekman, he was known as a legend in the recycling industry. As he would say, “I talk trash and I buy trash.” Affectionately known as Mud by his family and many friends, he was widely known for his embellished stories, countless jokes, distinctive laugh, outgoing personality, and frequent barefoot appearances. His cherished memories included his Baron’s softball championship days. Mud’s love of life and the outdoors will live on through the legacy of his grandchildren, his nieces, his nephews, and all of those who knew him. His larger-than-life personality and his love for family and many friends will never be forgotten. Memorials may be made to the Trent Hill Center, 522 W.
