It is with deep sorrow that Mrs. Judy Haire Morehead announces the death of her beloved husband, Mr. Robert George "Bob" Morehead, 76, of Murrells Inlet, SC Mr. Morehead entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A graveside funeral service with Navy Military Honors will be held at 2 o'clock on Friday, March 25, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Pine Ridge Cemetery officiated by The Rev. Wayne Cash. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 in the evening on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in his honor to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516, or a charity of one's choosing. Born in Evergreen Park, IL, he was the son of the late William Garland Morehead and the late Frances Gale Cloys Morehead. He graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1967, with a BS in Engineering. Later, he earned an MS in Systems Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School. In 1967, he completed his flight training as an A-6 B/N Pilot. He served our country in the Vietnam War where he flew over 100 combat missions. He joined the Naval Reserve in 1978 and served as a Commanding Officer of the NAF Misawa, Japan. In 1993, he retired as a Navy Captain after 25 years of service to his country. Bob held several positions in manufacturing management, including Plant Manager, Multi-Plant Manufacturing Manager, General Manager, and President of a subsidiary company. He retired after a long and successful career in 2005. He loved every sport, had a love of politics, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Belin United Methodist Church of Murrells Inlet, SC. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Judy Haire Morehead of Murrells Inlet, SC; sons, Todd (Beth) Morehead of Mims, FL, Jim (Rinee) Elgin of Hartsville, SC, Jody Lavender of Murrells Inlet, SC; daughters, Cathie (Jeff) Dabrowski of St. Charles, MO, Jennifer Morehead of Albuquerque, NM, JoAnn (Ryan) Richardson of Columbia, SC; sisters, Julie (Chris) Bridge of Glendale, AZ; sister-in-law, Judy S. Morehead of Venice, FL; grandchildren, Zack (Kristie) Buck of Ballwin, MO, Cameron Baca of Albuquerque, NM, Kyria (Patrick) Flynn of Hartsville, SC, Dylan (Lia) Elgin of Hartsville, SC, Chase Dabrowski of St. Charles, MO, Taylor Lavender of Murrells Inlet, SC, Chase Lavender of Murrells Inlet, SC, Walker Richardson of Columbia, SC; several great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William C. Morehead of Venice, FL.
