It is with deep sorrow that Mrs. Monty Parnell Gooding announces the death of her beloved husband, Randall Nathan Gooding, 77. Mr. Gooding entered into rest on Monday, June 27, 2022. The Directors of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home are caring for the family. A memorial service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 1, 2022, in The Chapel of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Atkinson will officiate the service to celebrate his life, and the family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to the Lee County Veterans Museum, 121 W. Cedar Lane, Bishopville, SC 29010, or the SC Cotton Museum, 121 W. Cedar Lane, Bishopville, SC 29010. He was a member of Memorial Chapel and retired from National Can after thirty-one years of faithful service. He loved his wife of sixty years with all of his heart, as well as his three sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, the rest of his family, friends, and animals, especially Nuttie Buddy. He was an avid traveler, fisherman, racecar driver, and alpaca farmer. He loved tinkering in his garage and creating beautiful artwork out of metal. You can see his artwork throughout Bishopville, the town he adored. One of Randall's greatest passions was this country, and he served it in Vietnam as a United States Marine during the early years of his life. He also served in the Marine Corps Reserve. As he grew older, he became a member of the American Legion Post 29 - VFW Post 3096. He spent every day at the Veterans Museum or the Cotton Museum -- especially at 4 o'clock. He is survived by his loving wife, Monty Parnell Gooding of Bishopville, SC; sons, Michael Randall (Rhonda) Gooding of Bishopville, SC, Charles Nathan (Donna) Gooding of Bishopville, SC, and Anthony Gooding of Raliegh, NC; sister, Susan Bunch of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Blake Gooding, Jordan Gooding, Justin Gooding, Kristel Croyle, Zach Gooding, Stan Burks, and Cory Burks; twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Beard of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Carolyn Williams of Jacksonville, FL. Further announcements will be made in due course.
