Mrs. Peggy Sing Calder

Funeral services for Mrs. Peggy Sing Calder, 94, who entered into rest on Thursday, December 17, 2020, will be held at a later date. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is caring for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Lutheran Hospice of the Midlands, 102 Fortress Drive, Chapin, SC 29036. Mrs. Calder, the widow of Harry Lee Calder, was born in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of the late Boyd Houston Sing and Dana Pigford Sing. She worked for many years as a secretary in the Darlington County School District and later for Coker College. She was fondly known as “Ma” to everyone and her house was always the gathering place for all. Mrs. Calder loved craft projects of all sizes, from building furniture to tole painting small figurines. She loved Christmas and had a themed tree in every room of the house. She never met a cat she didn’t like and always provided a loving home to any and all that crossed her path. Mrs. Calder was an avid gardener and collector of daylilies, ferns, and African violets. She is survived by her loving daughters, Rebecca Calder Davis (Dave) of Blythewood, SC, Lori Lee Calder of Florence, SC, and by her only and favorite grandson, Brennan Davis of Lewisville, TX.
