It is with deep sorrow that the Griffin family announces the death of their beloved father, Louis Wilkinson Griffin, Jr., 74. Mr. Griffin entered into rest on Monday, June 20, 2022. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home are caring for the family. A graveside funeral service with Navy Honors will be held at 11 o'clock on Friday, June 24, 2022, at Florence National Cemetery, 1001 Stockade Drive, Florence, SC. The Rev. Bobby Earls will officiate the service to honor his life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, Florida 33607. Born in Hartsville, SC, he was a son of the late Louis Wilkinson Griffin, Sr., and the late Virginia Webb Griffin Downey. He served his country in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Bigelow as a sound-powered Phone Talker during operations in Vietnam. He continued to give back to his community by donating over 45 gallons of blood to the Red Cross. He was always donating school supplies, food, diapers, baby clothing, money, and toys to less fortunate children. He was an avid collector of anything that would multiply a dollar. His collection of Hot Wheels Cars was quite impressive at just over 13,000 cars. He loved, "Sitting on the dock of the bay, wasting time," fishing, crabbing, and shrimping. He was especially well known for his "Financial Advice" whether you wanted it or not! He is survived by his son, Robert "Bobby" Louis (Tammy) Griffin; daughters, Holly Griffin (Adam) Ferguson, April Griffin Ruiz; brothers, Donald Eugene "Donnie" Griffin, Kenneth Wayne "Kenny" Downey; sisters, Delores Griffin (Wayne) Isgett, Gail Griffin Allen; grandchildren, Virginia Griffin (Simon) Wyant, Blake Ruiz, Ava Ruiz, Alexander "Xander" Ferguson; great-grandson, Graison Wyant.
