August 20, 1948 - February 5, 2022
It is with deep sorrow that the Knorr family announces the death of their beloved mother, Linda Stewart Knorr, 73. Mrs. Knorr entered into rest on Saturday, February 5, 2022. A funeral service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 2 o'clock on Monday, February 14, 2022, in Forest Hills Independent Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Murray will officiate, and the family will receive friends following the service. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. Born in Hartsville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Francis Eugene "Cotton" Stewart and Mary King Stewart. Linda was very loved and well known in the Hartsville community. She graduated from Hartsville Senior High in 1966 and completed a diploma nursing program at Hamlet Hospital in Hamlet, NC, in 1970. She began her career at Byerly Hospital and moved on to the NICU caring for critical babies. She lost her baby, Kevin Scott, as a stillbirth and later helped other mothers cope with their losses. Linda didn't know a stranger and was known to many as "Mama Linda." Full of kindness, compassion, and a real zest for life, she only saw the good in people. She was a real people person, bubbly, sociable, and funny. She spent her life taking care of people, from her years at McLeod and Carolinas to caring for her beloved mother until she passed in 2011. In her younger years, she loved dinners out, shopping with her best friend, Debbie Sellers Smith, watching the Atlanta Braves, and doting on her children. She was a member at Forest Hills Baptist Church, where she once sang in their choir. She loved to sing hymns and sang with the Hartsville Community Chorus. Linda was a wonderful person with a beautiful and kind spirit. We are all very blessed to have been touched by her love and kindness. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her daughter, June (Lana Barney) Knorr of Hartsville, SC; sons, Daniel (Jennifer) Knorr of Hartsville, SC, Jody (Jennifer) St.Jean of Hartsville, SC; sister: Gail (Steve) Funderburk of Hartsville, SC; grandchildren, Stephanie and Stacie Riley of Columbia, SC, Kelliegh and Michayla Johnson; Charlie, Tyler, and Jacob St.Jean of Florence; great-grandchild, Jax Boseman Edwards; nieces and nephews, Lucy Eddy, Randy (Mary) Hutchinson, Angela S.
