Mr. Julian Randolph Moore

It is with deep sorrow that the Moore family announces the death of their beloved uncle, Mr. Julian Randolph Moore, 66. Mr. Moore entered into rest on Sunday, April 14, 2024. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 3 o'clock on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at West Hartsville Baptist Church, with The Rev. Dr. Kevin Walters officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to Wycliffe Bible Translators, PO Box 628200, Orlando, FL 32862. Mr. Moore was born on May 7, 1957, in Hartsville, SC. He was the son of Sandra Windham Moore and the late Julian Shull Moore III. Randy attended Robert E Lee High School in Bishopville, where he played football. From high school, he attended Clemson University, where he studied architecture. In 1974, Randy broke his neck in a diving accident that left him a quadriplegic. Showing true character and perseverance, he never let that slow him down and never took advantage of his disability. When he came home, he completed his degree in Marketing at Florence Darlington Technical College. After graduating, he went to work for the family business Drives and Controls Specialties Inc. in Hartsville. He spent many years traveling and doing control work with print presses and other machines all over the East Coast. In 2005, he was blessed to join Wycliffe Bible Translators, which was a dream come true. This gave him the opportunity to become a missionary and serve his Lord and Savior by spreading the word around the globe (also, he wouldn’t have to dodge forktrucks in the workplace anymore). He was able to incorporate his computer skills remotely to assist missionaries all over the world in translating God’s word. Randy beat the odds from the doctors and from life itself and made the most of what God had given him. He loved the Lord and loved sharing his faith with anyone who would listen. There was hardly ever a time the Bible wasn’t playing on his computer while he worked and even slept. Randy has done an awesome job, not only taking care of himself but also taking care of his mother despite his personal challenges. He leaves behind family, loved ones, supporters of his work, and prayer partners. Randy is now in a better place, no longer confined to a wheelchair and worshipping his Lord in a way that we can only imagine. He is survived by his loving mother, Sandra Windham Moore; niece, Amanda R. (John) Hopkins; nephews, Casey R. (Jessica) Moore, Daniel R. (Courtney) Moore; great-nieces, Jaelyn S. Hopkins, Addison G. Hopkins; great-nephews, Aiden M. Hopkins, and Callen J. Moore. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Daniel Moore, and his nephew, Jason Moore. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be: Loren Rothman, Jim Huntley, Tim Tripp, Mitch Olinger, and Mark Jenkins.
