A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Julia Nason Gillespie, 68, who entered into rest on Thursday, May 27, 2021, will be held at 11 o'clock on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Kathy Carr, The Rev. Rob Teal, and The Rev. Scott Davis will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service, and other times at the home of her sister, Alice Boykin, 78 Johnson Pond Road, Bishopville, SC. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Bayler's Prayer Endowment at Prisma Health, 1600 Marion Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Julia was born in Bishopville, SC, the daughter of the late Rosa Lee Outlaw Nason and Laddie Nason. Julia loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved her dogs and cats, the mountains, and helping anyone in need. Julia taught Sunday School for many years as well as Vacation Bible School. She loved to read and she loved to cook. She was involved with the Dixie Youth Baseball for many years and loved all of the children that played. She was known as "Mrs. Julia" by so many. She was also a Girl Scout Leader for many years. Although she had no children of her own, she helped raise so many. She is survived by her husband, Danny Gillespie of Bishopville, SC; sisters, Ann (Burt)) Wagner of Camden, SC, Alice (Ralph) Boykin of Bishopville, SC; nephews, Sam (Patty) Rainwater of Canyon Lake, CA, Donald (Angelic) Rainwater of Florence, SC, Matt (Jessie) Makela of Bishopville, SC; niece, Megan Makela of Bishopville, SC; great-nieces and great-nephews, Daniel Atkinson, Gavin Makela, Tucker Makela, all of Bishopville, SC, Skyler Rainwater of Greenville, SC, Max Rainwater of Florence, SC, Kelsea Rainwater, Valarie Spencer, and Nicole Bruneet of Lake Elsinore, CA. Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Atkinson, Gavin Makela, Sam Rainwater, Matt Makela, Ryan Brown, Rob Teal, Tiz Laney, Don Rainwater, and Rich Wagner.
