Funeral services for Mr. Henry Lyndal Lee, Jr., 95, will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 15th, 2022 at the Swift Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. J. C. Long will officiate and the family will receive friends following the service in the church cemetery. Mr. Lee entered into rest on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. Lyndal was born in the Swift Creek community, where he lived his entire life, except for a stint in the US Army, In World War II, he was sent to the Philippines to prepare for the invasion of the Japanese mainland. After the surrender, he entered Japan as part of the occupying forces. After the war, he returned to Swift Creek where he continued the family farming business. He also served as a Game Warden for the SC Department of Natural Resources for 15 years. Later, he managed the newly formed Darlington County Sanitation Program for 20 years, until he retired from public service. A lifelong member of Swift Creek Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon, and as a Sunday School teacher. He enjoyed cooking and preparing his famous barbeque, chicken bog, and barbeque sauce. He gained notoriety far and wide for his unique flavor. Lyndal is survived by his wife of 61 years, JoAnn Kelley Lee; children, Robert Lee (Kathy), Cynthia Price (Joe), Judy Green (Richard), Kellie Braddock (Bob), Henry Lee, and Michelle Baltz (Lou); seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by both parents, Henry Lyndal Lee, Sr. and Helen Rollings Lee, and sister, Patricia Lee Cahow. The family requests that memorials be sent to Agape Hospice or Swift Creek Baptist Church. The family greatly appreciates the services provided by Agape Hospice and their loving staff.
