It is with deep sorrow that the Burkett family announces the death of their beloved father, Mr. Harvey DeWitt Burkett, 83. Mr. Burkett, the widower of Patricia "Annette" Hall Burkett, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 21, 2022. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home and Crematory are caring for the family. A graveside funeral service to honor his life will be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday, June 26, 2022, in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery, with The Rev. Lin Kirkman officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at the funeral home. Born in McBee, SC, he was the son of the late Henry Walter Burkett and Annelle Watkins Burkett. He graduated from Hartsville High School, retired from Sonoco, and was a member of the Sonoco Old Timer's Club. He loved his family dearly, as well as racing, wrestling, and Fords. On weekends off, he loved to pick us up and ride on an adventure somewhere: The beach, the mountains, or Grandma's. He loved to ride and look, stopping for burgers and ice cream, and some Putt-Putt Golf. He was always asking, "Baby, what can I do to help you? Do you need me to do anything?" He loved everyone and had such a gentle nature, and was always willing to help anyone in need. He is survived by his daughter, Angela Kaye Burkett; grandchildren, Daniel L. (Kennilyn) Bateman, Sarah E. Ingram, Sophia Stokes, Savannah Stokes; great-grandchildren, Landon Chisholm, Kaedon Bateman, Huntley Bateman, Lauren Vinson, Michael Smith, Willow Bateman. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard DeWitt Burkett
