It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Eunice Davis Rhodes, 86. Mrs. Rhodes, the widow of Jennings Bryan "J.B." Rhodes, entered into rest on Saturday, June 4, 2022. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 2 o'clock on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, in The Chapel of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The Rev. Patrick Dye and The Rev. Steve Winburn will officiate with entombment to follow in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence from 5:00 until 7:00 on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at 344 Equestrian Run, Hartsville, SC, as well as following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Hartsville Church of God,704 Lakeview Blvd., Hartsville, SC, 29550, or the Darlington County Humane Society, Box 1655, Hartsville, SC 29551, or St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Eunice was born in Goldsboro, NC, on July 2, 1935. She was the daughter of the late George W. Davis and the late Alice Marie Wamble Davis, both of Goldsboro, NC. She was a graduate of Goldsboro High School and was a student of the late Andy Griffith. She was employed as the bookkeeper for Florence County Council on Aging until she retired in 1986. She loved spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren, whom she enjoyed taking to the beach, the mountains, Carowinds, Disney World, and the Biltmore Estate. She also loved completing puzzles and had quite a collection at her house. Eunice had a big heart for animals and people. She was beautiful both inside and out. She is survived by her loving son, Kenneth "Ken" R. (Mary) Braswell II of Hartsville, SC; stepdaughter, Linda Dixon of Hartsville, SC; sisters, Susie (Woody) Woodward of Goldsboro, NC, Carolyn Walter of Buffalo Gap, TX; grandchildren, Danielle Braswell (Chris) Lunsford of Hartsville, SC, Kendell (Travis) Renwick of Hartsville, SC, Tracie Jacobs of Hartsville, SC; great-grandchildren, Oakley Lunsford, Charlie Renwick, Brittany Talbert, Bryan Jacobs; great-great-granddaughter, Samantha Grace Talbert. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Leroy Bert Davis of Goldsboro, NC; sister, Faye Davis of Goldsboro, NC; great-granddaughter, Emily jacobs.
