Mr. David Allen Gilbert

April 14, 1965 - December 24, 2021

A graveside funeral service to honor the life of Mr. David Allen Gilbert, 56, who entered into rest on Friday, December 24, 2021, will be privately held at Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, with The Rev. John "Bootsie" Griggs officiating. Friends are invited to pay their respects and sign the register from 10:00 until 4:00 PM on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home, and other times at his residence, 956 N. Rolling Road, Hartsville, SC. The family kindly request that In lieu of flowers, memorials will be made to The Gilbert Memorial Fund. Born in Darlington County, SC, he was a son of the late William Boyd Gilbert and Betty Dixon Gilbert Gainey. David was a man with a big heart who loved his family, especially his children. and grandchildren. He was a jokester and enjoyed getting a good laugh at his family's expense. He loved music, especially 80's rock, and enjoyed watching movies. His favorites were Marvel and D.C. but he never turned down a comedy or scary movie. He drove his family crazy with his nonstop movie quotes. You never saw David without his sidekick, "Bentley." David accepted the Lord into his heart as a young adult and re-dedicated his life again three years later. It is a great comfort to his family to know he is in heaven with his loved ones. He is survived by his fiancée, Michelle Thompson Jenkins of Hartsville, SC; son, Nicholas Boyd Gilbert of Wingate, NC; daughters, Shana Danielle Gilbert of Patrick, SC, Katelynne Alexis Thompson of Hartsville, SC; brother, Scott (Mandy) Gainey of Hartsville, SC; sister, Wanda Mims of Patrick, SC; grandchildren, Aiden Lane Johnson, and Jayce Wayne Johnson; stepfather, Isaac Gainey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Gainey Horton, Patsy Ann Gilbert; niece, Amber Lynn Horton. He is also survived by his cousins, Teresa G. Steven’s and Gail G. Watson, along with many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. "Our love will always be true and never die! I love you forever and always.
