It is with deep sorrow that Debra Christmas announces the death of her beloved mother, Carolyn H. Hancock, 87, of Bishopville, SC. Mrs. Hancock, the widow of Frederick M. Hancock, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. The Directors of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home are caring for the family. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 3 o'clock on Monday, April 18, 2022, in The Chapel of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral home. The Rev. Paul Atkinson will officiate, and the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service. Born in Lee County, SC, she was the daughter of the late D. J. Hatfield and Ruth Smith Hatfield. "MeMe," as she was so lovingly known, was an avid gardener and loved watching her birds. She loved her Jesus most of all, but her family was her joy. She was a "Secret Keeper" and consultant to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was a professional Uno player. Carolyn was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and served and attended Memorial Chapel in Bishopville until she was unable physically. She was a generous giver to many charities and very compassionate to those in need. She will be missed tremendously by her family. She was full of LOVE. She is survived by her loving daughter, Debbi (Robert) Christmas; grandchildren, Jason (Kim) Christmas, Jessica (Chris) McKenzie, Shannon (Russell) Atkinson, Chad Hancock; great-grandchildren, Tara & Evin McKenzie (McKenzie Watts), Rushton Christmas, Brantley and Madison Atkinson, Kayla Hancock, Madeline Hancock, Bella Hancock; two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her late husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Mitch Hancock, and her brother, Jim Burdick.
