Carolyn Woodham Clanton, 89, died peacefully at home on July 16th, 2022. A graveside service to honor her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Hebron United Methodist Church with Pastor Jerry McManus and Chaplain David Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. The Directors of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home are caring for the family. Carolyn was born on July 17, 1932, to the late Clifford Edward Woodham and Annie Laurie Beasley Woodham. She graduated from Bishopville High School. After graduating, she worked at Biflex Bishopville and Reeves Brothers until she started a family. During those years of being a homemaker and until her health started failing, she was the bookkeeper for the family farm. Carolyn was a devoted wife and mother. She married Cecil Edwin Clanton, October 6, 1956, she later had their son Cecil “Chip” Edwin Clanton, Jr and began working from home as a homemaker. She enjoyed staying busy and working hard no matter what needed to be done. There were many projects she helped complete around the house with her husband and son. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Other things she enjoyed was keeping her yards looking beautiful, growing a vegetable garden, refurbishing furniture, shopping, family vacations at the beach, Christmas season and all of decorating that goes along with it. Carolyn was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church, Bishopville, where she attended regularly until her health started failing. Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, Cecil E. Clanton of 57 years, her parents, Clifford Edward Woodham and Annie Laurie Beasley Woodham, as well as her late husband's parents, Raeford Lee Clanton and Fannie Lee Clanton. She is survived by her son, Cecil “Chip” Edwin Clanton, Jr. and his wife Kimberly B. Clanton. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to thank her loving caregivers, Christine Dotts, Teresa White, Rosa Richardson, Annie Bell Simon, Lakisha Brown, and their families for their kindness, tender care, and support all these years. We could not have done it without you. You were each so good to her; each bringing your own uniqueness and care to her.
