It is with deep sorrow that the Gainey family announces the death of their beloved mother, Mrs. Annie Lou Dalrymple Gainey, 87 Mrs. Gainey, the widow of Carl P. Gainey, entered into rest on Monday, May 23, 2022. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A graveside funeral service to honor her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Magnolia Cemetery, with The Rev. Danny Holley officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a procession following to the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to First Southern Methodist Church, 820 Lakeview Blvd., Hartsville, SC 29550 or to Greater Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 3304 W. Bobo Newsom Hwy, Hartsville, SC 29550. Mrs. Gainey was born in Darlington County, SC, the daughter of the late Ernest Dalrymple and Bertha Mae Perdue Dalrymple. She was a charter member of First Southern Methodist Church. She worked at the Corner Drug Store, Boyd-Powe Drug Store, and Economy Drug Store for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister and will be missed dearly. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Bell, Dr. Powell, and the staff of Morrell Nursing Center for their loving care. She is survived by her loving sons, Ernie (Dora) Gainey of Manning, SC, Michael (Rhonda) Gainey of Hartsville, SC, Reggie (Tonda) Gainey of Hartsville, SC; brother, Henry (Gail) Dalrymple of Hartsville, SC; sister, Judy (Don) Crain of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Georgina (Frank) Coffey of Manning, SC, Spencer Gainey of Hartsville, SC, Bennett Gainey of Hartsville, SC, Will (Joanna) Tucker of Summerville, SC, Caroline (Ryan) Hodge of Fort Mill, SC, Susan (Ross) Umberger of Irmo, SC, Madeline (Cody) Gentry of Piedmont, SC; great-grandhildren, John Coffey, Meredith Coffey, Owen Hodge, Hudson Tucker, Eric Hodge, Oscar Umberger, Thompson Gentry, Flynn Umberger, Ben Hodge, Amelia Tucker, Mary Scott Gentry, Eloise Tucker.
