Mrs. Anna White Hill
April 28, 1954 - April 16, 2022
Anna W. Hill, 67, died peacefully Saturday afternoon, April 16th, at McLeod Hospice House. Born and raised in Greenville, N.C., Anna was the daughter of the late Henry Alexander White and Helen Dawson White. She graduated from Queens College with a Bachelor of Music degree. In 1974, Anna married her soulmate, the late F. Trent Hill, Jr. Anna served as the Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church in Hartsville for almost 40 years. In doing so, she assumed multiple roles, including conductor, composer, pianist, and organist. During her tenure, she directed dozens of vocal and bell choirs. Anna also served the community as the founder and director of the Darlington County All-County Choir Festival and Hartsville Children’s Chorale for elementary school children. Anna also directed the Hartsville Chamber Ensemble for ten years. Anna was beautiful and surrounded herself with beauty. She loved art and literature and theology and intellectual, meaningful conversation. She enjoyed black coffee and good beer. She embodied grace and believed wholeheartedly in God’s grace and forgiveness for every human being. She adored her dogs and afforded them full rule of the house. Anna deeply loved her husband, her children, her friends, her church, and her community and devoted much of her life to caring for them in her classy and kind way. Anna exuded light and shared it with the world around her. She never took for granted her own position but instead often pondered how she came to be so fortunate. She took seriously her responsibility to share her talents and resources with others, which was demonstrated in the way she led her life every single day. Even dementia could not extinguish her light, her beauty, and her grace. Surviving are her three children, Scottie Hill (Alex Brito), Becky Hill, and Bo Hill, three grandchildren, Isaac Brito, Anna Bec Hill-Brito, Trent Hill-Brito, two sisters, Becky Jones (Gregory) and Catharine Koonce (David), and Trent’s siblings, Susie Crawford (Carl), Scott Hill (Lynn), and Betsy Hargett. A memorial service will be held at 4 o'clock on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church. Following the service, Anna’s family invites family and friends to join them at a Celebration of Life at Drengaelen House of Coker University, located at 210 E. Home Avenue, Hartsville. Memorials may be made to: Trent Hill Center for Children and Families, 522 W. Bobo Newsom Highway, Hartsville, S.C. 29550, or by visiting www.trenthillcenter.org/giving/gift
