Ms. Andra Alford Risinger

Andra Alford Risinger died peacefully on Monday, August 10, 2020, after an extended illness. She was born on August 2, 1942, and was the daughter of the late Henry H. Alford and Claudia Chandler Alford of Brittons Neck, SC. Andra was a dedicated registered nurse for over 40 years, most of which was in research at MUSC. She was a devoted, loving mother to her son, Benji, and worked for many years as an advocate for individuals with disabilities and special needs. Andra enjoyed cooking, painting with many different medians, playing the piano, reading British mysteries, decorating, and listening to jazz. She had a special way of relating to others. Even in retirement, she continued to address health needs through her volunteer work with senior citizens. She was a dear daughter, sister, sister-in-law, mother, aunt, and friend, and she will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her son, Benji; three sisters, Carol A. (Mike) Edwards of Hartsville, Darlene A. Baxley of Rock Hill, Donna A. Driggers of Marion; four nieces and two nephews; and a very close friend, Martha Donahue of Charleston. A private family graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2020. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the charitable organization of your choice.
