Mr. Willie James McIver

It is with deep sorrow that Mr. Carl Powell and Mrs. Yolanda Carnessali-Powell's family and the McIver family announce the death of her beloved father, Mr. Willie James McIver, 68. Mr. McIver entered into rest on Saturday, October 28, 2023. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A graveside funeral service to honor his life will be held at 2 o'clock on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Hartsville, SC. Willie James McIver was born on September 18, 1955, in Hartsville, SC, to the late Lee McIver and Minnie (Brown) McIver. He accepted Jesus Christ at a young age. He attended Butler High School and achieved his High School diploma in 1973. Willie was married to the Late Jeanette (Egerton) McIver. He was instrumental in raising two sons, Kimdo M. Egerton and Jamel M. Egerton. He raised a daughter, Yolanda M Carnessali-Powell, and was the best father three children could ever have. Willie had a big heart and a very gentle soul, helping, encouraging, loving, and supporting to all family, friends, and especially his siblings. He adored his wife, even though the union was not long. Willie made his way from Hartsville, SC, to Connecticut. Willie eventually made his home in White Plains, where he lived there for many decades, he earned his CDL and drove for White Plains Bus Company for well over ten years, ventured out to driving 18-wheeler trucks, and retired from the Post Office as a CDL Driver. Willie also loved playing guitar; music was very important to him, and it solved a lot of stress for him and others. He was also in a band for a short time and would play at retirement homes and for family. He made his way to Florida to be a caregiver for his late mother, Minnie (Brown) McIver. Willie also made his way back to where it all began for him, Hartsville, SC. As his health continued to deteriorate, he made his final stay in Louisville, KY, but made it clear that his resting place would be Hartsville, SC. Willie is preceded in death by his wife and parents, as mentioned above, brothers Billy McIver and Richard (Ricky) McIver. Willie leaves to cherish his memory are three children, Yolanda M. Carnessali-Powell (Carl), Jamel (Shanice) Egerton, and Kimdo Egerton; Two grandchildren, Roslyn O. Carnessali and JC (William) Carnessali; sisters, Mazie McCallop, Annie Mae McIver Graham, Hettie McIver, Minnie McIver Bycinthe, and Tina Jackson; brothers, Ernest McIver, Carnell McIver, Cleveland McIver, and Jesse McIver. A very long-time friend, Cynthia R Myles. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Our dad taught us that if you treat people right, GOD will treat you right. Our dad made sure that we would never treat others wrong and stated that people don’t abandon people they love; they abandon people they were using. I am so happy that he knew how much his children loved and adored him and would never abandon him. You, Willie James McIver, will be missed.
