It is with deep sorrow that the Small family announces the death of their beloved mother, Mrs. Trisha Maree Small, 79. Mrs. Small, the widow of Charles Small Jr., entered into rest on Thursday, February 29, 2024. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 1 o'clock on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, in The Chapel of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The Rev. Eric Winstead will officiate with burial to follow in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the funeral home. Mrs. Small was born on October 29, 1944, in Chester, SC. She was the daughter of the late Johnnie D. Maree and the late Bertha Granger Maree of Great Falls, SC. Trisha was the owner and operator of C & T Motors and Smalls Service Station. She attended Lakeview Baptist Church in her younger years and baked cakes for the Benevolence Committee. She and Charles loved spending time at their beach house in Ocean Lakes Campground with their neighbors, Gene and Jeannette Sellers. She was blessed with some of the most special friends anyone could ask for, and if she considered you a friend, she would do anything in the world for you. She hosted huge family Thanksgiving dinners every year, with her twelve-layer chocolate cake being the sought-after dessert. She championed the needy and underprivileged in the community. Her efforts included being a dedicated fund-raiser and avid collector of soda tabs for a variety of charities. She was a Life Member of the Women of the Moose in Hartsville and Darlington since 1976. She served in many capacities and held a term as Senior Regent. She is survived by her sons, Danny (Jana) Morrison of Lake Wateree, SC, John Wayne Simpson of Hartsville, SC; Charles Andrew Small of Hartsville, SC, grandchildren, Abigayle (Chris) Clymer, Carrie Morrison, Jack Simpson, Jacob Small, Casey (Brittany) Jones, Courtney Jones, Bertha Ann Jones; great-grandchildren, Tristan Jones, Zoey Jones, Olivia Jones, Riley Johnson, Carmen Jones, Raileigh Jefferson, and Neeah Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Cassondra Burkett; Debra Small; son, Charles A. "Tony" Small Memorials may be made in her honor to Ground 40 Ministry, 303 Dale Street, Monroe, NC 28112.
