Mr. Stephen Lee Perkins

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Stephen Lee Perkins, 36, of Hartsville, SC, entered into rest on Thursday, February 27, 2025, after a short, courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family during his time of passing. Stephen was the kind of person who made the world a little brighter. He loved his job and his coworkers at CM Tucker Lumber, always bringing warmth and kindness (sometimes a little trouble) to those around him. It was no surprise that he was known to some as “teddy bear” – his gentle nature and big heart made everyone feel safe and cared for. Stephen was the keeper of secrets, the friend you could trust with anything, and the one who never judged but always supported. His love for his family was boundless. He adored his nieces and nephew and took so much joy in being part of their lives. His brothers meant the world to him, and the bond they shared was unbreakable. His friends were like family, and he made sure they always knew how much they meant to him. One of Stephen’s greatest joys was playing pool. As a member of a pool league, he spent countless hours at Pool Time, but for him, it was never about the game – it was about the people. He loved the competition, but even more than that, he loved the time spent with his friends, laughing, sharing stories, and simply enjoying each other’s company. His Big smile, his kindness, and his unwavering loyalty will be deeply missed. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his love and impact he had on our lives will never fade. Stephen’s memory will live in the hearts of all who knew him – forever our teddy bear, forever our brother, forever our friend, forever our family. Stephen was born December 8, 1988, in Hartsville, SC, the son of the late Henry Marvin Perkins and Earline Perkins Harris. He graduated from Hartsville High School in 2008. Remaining to cherish Stephen’s memory are mother, Earline (Roy) Harris; brothers, Wayne (Kelly) Perkins and Jason (Ann) Perkins; nephew, Timothy Perkins; nieces, Breanna, Olivia, and Sophie Perkins; uncles, Ronald (Charmaine), Melvin, and James Perkins, and Dave (Linda), Rupert (Katie), Earl, and Dewey Odom; and many more cousins, great friends, co-workers, and loved ones. He is preceded in death by his father, Henry Perkins; uncles, William Perkins and Arnold Odom; cousins, Staci Perkins and Jessica Nicole Howle; and his grandmother, Ruby Mae Perkins. A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 2 o'clock on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Pine Ridge Holiness Church. The Rev. Philip Jones and The Rev. Mark Phillips will officiate, with burial to follow in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Flowers may be sent in his honor to the church or to his mother’s residence. Serving as pallbearers will be Timothy Perkins, Wade Harris, Cory Nice, Andy Dampier, Josh Rhonemus, Garris Walters, and Blade Stamey.
