It is with deep sorrow that Zachary Brooks Johnson and his family announce the death of Mrs. Staci Charmaine Perkins Johnson, 51. Mrs. Johnson entered into rest on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 11 o’clock on Monday, August 5, 2024, in Dovesville Church of God, Darlington, SC, with the Rev. Robert Goins officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in her honor to Dovesville Church of God. Staci was born on May 15, 1973, in Hartsville, SC. She was the daughter of Ronald Perkins and Charmaine Brown Perkins. After graduating from Hartsville High School in 1991, Staci would go on to earn her cosmetology license at Betty Stevens Cosmetology Institute. For the next 32 years, Staci would serve her community by trying to make everyone look their best with a bright smile on her face. She often said if you didn’t sit in her chair, chances are you knew someone who did! Staci bought the salon Hair Forum in 2015 and won the Post and Courier Reader's Choice Awards for Best Hair Salon and Best Hair Stylist in 2023. She had many clients that she considered dear friends and saw them as an extension of her family. She wasn’t “just a stylist” to most because she was also a shoulder to lean on and the go-to person for words of wisdom and encouragement. Staci would tell you what you needed to hear and not just what you wanted to hear! Upon walking into her shop, it was obvious that Staci loved four things: the Lord, her family, owls, and plants. Almost every available space had a plant sitting on it due to her green thumb, and Staci had to buy shelves to display all the owls that her clients would give her. Every wall was covered with pictures of her family and dear friends. If you mentioned wanting to find a church, Staci would tell you how much she loved Dovesville Church of God and invite you to come sit on her pew that Sunday. One knew exactly who Staci was as a person just by sitting in her chair! She loved to tell people how proud she was of her daughters and their accomplishments, what new adventures she went on with her husband, and how much she spoiled her grandbaby. Staci is survived by her husband, Zachary Johnson; children, Jessica (Alex) Howle and Morgan Perkins; grandchild, Weston Howle; parents, Ronald and Charmaine Perkins; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Debbie and Jeff Johnson; grandmother-in-law, Ethel Woodham; sister, Rhonda (Steve) Cusaac; nephews, Patrick and Michael Cusaac; uncles, James and Melvin Perkins, special friends, Nicole (Richie) Crowley and Kathy (John) Rivers, and many other cherished family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Jean “Sugar” Brown and Ruby Mae Perkins; grandfather, Homer Brown; uncles, Henry and William Perkins; son-in-law, Josh Howle; dear friend, Sharon Windham.
