Funeral services for Rhonda Susie Heustess Jones, 60, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. The Rev. Tommy Gaskin will officiate with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 13, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Susie went to be with her Lord and Savior in the early evening hours on Sunday, March 10, 2019. She went home after a long, hard-fought battle with Heart Disease and Diabetes. Susie had many years of declining health which kept her at home, but she always had her Bible by her bedside and was always ready to have, in her words, “an intellectual dialog about Gods written word”. She loved her talks with her Aunt Mary, her sister, and brother about what they thought Heaven would be like. We are all so thankful that she now has the answers to all her questions. Susie has always been a caregiver in both her career path and in her home life. She was a registered nurse until she had to retire after a car crash that left her disabled. She took care of her dad after her mom passed suddenly in 2013 until a few months ago. However, if you would have asked Susie, she would say that her greatest gifts were her two children. To be able to care for and raise them was what she lived for every day. She was in so much pain for so long, but she would say, “I have to stay here and stay strong for them until I know they are happy and loved and know Jesus.” She recently said, “I know I can go now, I got to meet and love on my grandbaby”. She also said now that her daughter has found her soul mate, she knows that both of her children are loved and will be taken care of until they meet again in Heaven to continue “The Dance”. We are rejoicing in the fact that we know you were met with enormous hugs from your mom and Howard. Born in Darlington County, SC, she was a daughter of Jimmy Edward Heustess and the late Sara Frances Howle Heustess. Surviving are her son, Michael Shane Jones, and his wife, Amanda Jones; daughter, Shannon Leigh Maddox, and her fiancée, Ryan O’Neal; grandchildren Adam, Ethan, and Wyatt; brother, Jimmy Boyd Heustess; sister, Sylvia Joanne Farmer; nieces, Courtney Heustess and Sydney Farmer; nephews, Coleman Heustess and Zachory Farmer.
