It is with deep sorrow that the Atkinson family announces the death of their beloved father, Mr. Reginald Allen Atkinson, 85. Mr. Atkinson entered into rest and joined his loving wife of over 54 years, Doris Outlaw Atkinson, in Heaven on Thursday, May 2, 2024. A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 4 o'clock on Sunday, May 5, 2024, in Spring Branch Baptist Church, with The Rev. Buddy Amerson officiating. Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Army, and Masonic Rites will be given at the graveside in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to Spring Branch Baptist Church, 5106 Middendorf Road, Hartsville, SC 29550. Mr. Atkinson was born on September 18th, 1938, in Hartsville, SC. He was the son of the late John Muldrow and the late Elise Howle Atkinson. He was a Deacon and Song Director at Spring Branch Baptist Church, attended McBee High School, worked at Kendall Manufacturing, retired from Sonoco Products Company, and was a retired Staff Sergeant in the Army National Guard. He was a lifetime member and Past Master of the McBee Masonic Lodge #313 and held duel membership as a lifetime member of the Hartsville Masonic Lodge #173. He spent his retired years with his loving family and friends. He was an avid farmer and car enthusiast, enjoyed westerns, and was an Atlanta Braves baseball fan. He and his wife shared their love of music and the lord throughout the community during their marriage. Mr. Atkinson is survived by his children, Stacey Allen Atkinson (Bettie) and Christie Atkinson Johnson (Larry); grandchildren, Danielle Atkinson Johnson (Brandon), Carol Atkinson Tarte (Bradley), Brandy Johnson Young (Ryan), Courtney Johnson, and Lauren Lamberton; great-grandchildren Harley Tarte, Hank Young, and Mack Young; sisters, Barbara Annelle Rabon, Macey Kirven, and Margie Berry; Many nieces and nephews which he loved dearly. Mr. Atkinson was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Outlaw Atkinson; parents, John and Elise Atkinson; sisters, Sarah Steen and Carolyn Baker; brothers, John “Bud” Atkinson, Robert Atkinson, Clyde Atkinson, and Vernon Atkinson. Serving as Pallbearers will be Benji Atkinson, Chad Atkinson, Brent Hall, John (Lukie) Kirven, Clint Atkinson, and Warren Morrell.
