Mr. Raoul Jose "Bob" Richards

It is with deep sorrow that Mrs. Kathy Parnell Richards announces the death of her beloved husband, Mr. Raoul Jose "Bob" Richards, 82. Mr. Richards entered into rest on March 27, 2023. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 11 o'clock on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, in The Chapel of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home, with the Rev. Noah Reid officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial with Full Military Honors will be held at 2 o'clock at Florence National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to the American Parkinson's Disease Association, PO Box 61420, Staten Island, NY 10306. Mr. Richards was born in Ghent, Belgium, on March 20, 1941. He was the son of the late Andre Turkelboom and the late Magdelena Zeegars Turkelboom. Raoul was very proud to obtain his American citizenship and serve his country. He was a retired Air Force Officer and a retired Government Service after serving in many countries all over the world. He was fluent in five languages, a real history buff, and enjoyed talking politics. He was a very social person with a love of fine food and drink; he loved to entertain family and friends and traveling. He was an accomplished tennis player, a master skier, and loved to ride his motorcycle until his body would no longer permit such activities. Raoul was Roman Catholic and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Camden, SC. He was a kind and loving person. He loved his wife, "Kathy," of 42 years, and together they shared a charmed life. He loved and was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and a very special nephew, Gray Melton. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Sharon Parnell Richards of Camden, SC; son, Lee Robert (Jill) Richards of Altus, OK; daughter, Betty Ann Terry of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister, Diane Lund of Weston, FL; sisters-in-law, Jean (Ed) Evans of Hartsville, SC, Ann (Jack) Newsome of Hartsville, SC; grandchildren Blake (Brittany) Richards of Altus, OK, Jordyn (Aubrey) Anderson of Lawton, OK, Haley (Weston) Cole of Sentinel, OK, Kelsey (Blake) Humble of Sentinel, OK, Olivia Terry of Mount Pleasant, SC, Grace Terry of Mount Pleasant, SC, Katylyn Terry of Mount Pleasant, SC; four great-grandchildren.
