A graveside service for Mr. Michael "Mike" Wayne Weatherford, 75, will be held in Lake Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Tim Skipper. The graveside service will be held privately due to the current pandemic. A public celebration of life will be held at a later date. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is caring for the family. Mr. Weatherford entered into rest on Friday, March 20, 2020. Born in Timmonsville, SC, he was a son of the late George Marion and Lois Elizabeth Jordan Weatherford. He graduated from Conway High School and served in the South Carolina Army National Guard for 7 years. He retired from Stingray Boat Company after 37 years of service. In 1981 Mike was part of a voyage that was recorded in the Guinness World Records. The voyage started in Coon Rapids, MN and 4 days and 1804 miles later ended in Baton Rouge, LA. As the mechanic of the 2 boats, Mike came through every time problems were experienced. The boats were named Round Ball I and Round Ball II. Surviving are his wife, Mary Simpson Weatherford; daughter, Merri (Duffy) Scarborough; son, Chris (Rheannan) Weatherford all of Hartsville, SC; grandchildren, Rachel (Blake) Courtney, Emily Weatherford, Mariah Weatherford, Michael Weatherford, Mia Weatherford all of Hartsville, SC; sisters, Lois Ann (K. D.) Todd of Conway, SC, Kay Twombley of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Tad (Lynda) Weatherford of Hartsville, SC. Because Mike always had a heart to help other people, the family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Calvary Tabernacle Church, 1812 East BoBo Newsom Hwy., Hartsville, South Carolina 29550. I had to leave you all today, I am sorry I could not stay. My time here on earth is up you see, My Father in Heaven was ready for me. Please do not cry or be sad I am gone, This life on earth was not my home. When I walked through Heaven's gate today, Jesus welcomed me in a glorious way. The Angels sang with a magnificent sound, loved ones before me gathered around. My vision was perfect and I could now see, how my faith and obedience has awarded me. On earth I was a proud servant, that obeyed God's Holy Word, I trusted and believed, I was a sheep to his herd. I worked very hard and prayed everyday, I was faithful to Mary in every single way. I loved all my family, neighbors, and friends. I gave my heart fully all the way to the end. Please don't be sad or cry since I'm gone, My body is healed and I am finally home.
