Mrs. Linda Martin

Linda Study Martin, 76, died Tuesday, February 25, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Born Linda Arlene Study near Akron, in Kosciusko County Indiana, she was one of eight children born to the late Floyd Leslie and Hazel Amanda Hire Study. She graduated from Beaver Dam School. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, the late John Harrison Martin Jr. A beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, she and Harrison made their home of over 45 years in Hartsville where she dedicated her life to home and raising their four children. Generosity, charity, confidence, style, wit, kindness of heart and spirit, compassion and caring for others, love and devotion to her family and to all who knew her, were the testimonies of her life. Although she cherished her privacy in later years, she was outgoing and faithful in support of her community, friends, and neighbors. Her love of animals was widely known, having devoted many years and resources, privately and publicly, in support of local humane society rescue efforts. A life-long, faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Hartsville, she loved her church family and her Lord. Her life was a beautiful example of selflessness and dedication to her family as she devoted her life to raising her four children and six grandchildren where she (Gam) will live forever in their hearts. All her grandchildren had a special place in her heart and her two youngest, Pressly and Emily, gave her great joy in her last years. May her spirit live on in those she touched with her caring and kindness and may her memory be eternal. She was preceded in death by her sisters, June Tully (Warsaw, IN), Joan Davis (Burket, IN), Marjorie Sausaman (Akron, IN), Francis Taylor (Howe, IN); and a brother Richard Leslie Study (Warsaw, IN); niece, Debra Ankenbruck (Ft. Wayne, IN); and nephew Mike Davis (Burket, IN). Surviving are her sons, John Harrison (Susan) Martin III of Florence, SC, Scott Allan (Pam) Martin of Supply, NC, Bryan Richard (Stacy) Martin of Hartsville, SC; daughter, Lori Martin (Craig) Morris of Hartsville, SC; sister and brother-in-law, Jan (Dwayne) Ankenbruck of Ft. Wayne, IN; brother, F. Allan Study of Warsaw, IN; grandchildren, Amanda Martin (John) Wilhite of Greenville, SC, Ellen Elizabeth Martin of Charlotte, NC, Pressly Hire Martin and Emily Raines Martin of Hartsville, SC, Candace (Travis) Crocker of Anderson, SC and Taylor Morris of Huntsville, AL; great-granddaughters, Callie Crocker and Atkinsyn Ann Morris; eighteen nieces and nephews; and many special friends. Visitation for Linda will be held from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Thursday at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home with a private burial in Magnolia Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staffs of Morrell Nursing Center, Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, Dr. Robert Bullard and Comfort Keepers for their caring service and support over the past two years.
