It is with deep sorrow that Mrs. Cynthia Lynn Segars Bladel and her family announce the death of her beloved husband, Mr. Larry William Bladel, 80. Larry William Bladel, a cherished resident of Hartsville, SC, and a proud native of Toledo, OH, was called home on June 20, 2023. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 10 o'clock on Saturday, June 24, 2023, in The Chapel of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home, with The Rev. William D. "Bill" Oldland officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to: Children's Cancer Research or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Larry was born on June 26, 1942, and his journey of life touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, and a dedicated serviceman. Larry's unwavering love and commitment were evident throughout his 50-year marriage to his beloved wife, Cynthia Segars Bladel, a true partnership that stood the test of time. Together, they built a life brimming with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Larry was a pillar of strength for his family, providing guidance and support with a gentle and caring spirit. Larry's devotion extended to his children, Michael Todd Watford, Nicole Williamson (Rex), Brian Bladel, and Christopher Bladel (Gloria). His love knew no bounds, and he took great pride in watching them grow into remarkable individuals. Larry's heart held a special place for his late daughter, Cherrie Watford, whose memory will forever be treasured. As a grandfather, Larry delighted in the laughter and joy brought by Joshua Alvarez, Ryan Alvarez, Christian Alvarez (Lailani), Joseph Bladel, Lindsey Bladel, Trey Summer, Shane Summer, and great-grandchildren Victoria Eckman, Peyton Sumner, and Kyla Sumner. Larry also enjoyed spending time with his faithful furry companion, Buster. His love for them was immeasurable, and he cherished every moment spent together, creating lasting bonds that will endure through the generations. Larry's commitment to serving his country was evident during his time in the United States Navy. He valiantly served in naval aviation during the Vietnam War, embodying bravery and dedication to his fellow servicemen and his nation. Larry's contributions to his country will be forever remembered and honored. After his military service, Larry enjoyed a fulfilling career in Nuclear Energy, where he displayed unwavering professionalism and dedication until his retirement. His work ethic and commitment were admired by colleagues, and set an example for those around him. Larry William Bladel's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and service. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion. While his presence will be deeply missed, the impact he made on the lives of those who knew him will be cherished eternally.
