It is with deep sorrow that the Wilkes family announces the death of Ms. Kaley Michelle Wilkes, 33. Ms. Wilkes entered into rest on Thursday, February 13, 2025. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 3 o'clock on Friday, February 21, 2025, in The Chapel of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home, with The Rev. David Wilks officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Ms. Wilkes was born on Friday, December 20, 1991, in Darlington County, South Carolina. She is the daughter of Angela Denise McKenzie Wilkes and the late Christopher Allen Wilkes. Kaley was an outgoing, fun-loving, hardworking mother, daughter, sister, friend, and co-worker. Her beautiful smile, warm & radiant personality, and southern charm are ones you would never be able to forget. As a nurturing mother, she dedicated her life and heart to raising her young daughter Sadie and established a bond that could never be broken. A Strong will and determination with a positive outlook on life was never a match for any trial that came her way. Always showing herself as a friend, she never met a stranger. Throughout her life, she gave all of herself completely and unselfishly, always helping others in need. Being dependable and trustworthy, she was always someone you knew you could count on. Well-rounded and versatile in all aspects of life, she was a jack-of-all-trades. She enjoyed spending time with her family & friends, working and beautifying her yard, gardening & planting flowers, and just living life to its fullest. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed countless outdoor activities. As a true animal lover, she gave so much love and care to her two dogs, "Bella" and "Whiskey." As a Christian, she served God and truly exemplified God's love to everyone daily throughout her life with selfless love, care, and action. Her favorite bible verse expresses the source of her strength: "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me" - Philippians 4:13. She lived a simple life of love, dedication, and compassion, which words will never be able to adequately describe. Her wonderful, loving memory and zeal for life will never be forgotten. She is survived by her daughter, Sadie Michelle Gaskin; and her other children, Mariea Elizabeth Terry, June Alliyah Gaskin, and Easten Andrew Russell, all of Hartsville, SC; mother, Angela "Angie" Denise Wilkes of Hartsville, SC; brother, Josheau "Josh" Allen Wilkes of Cheraw, SC; paternal grandfather, Jerry Malone (Abigail) Wilkes of Hartsville, SC; maternal grandfather, Ray Maurice McKenzie of McBee, SC; aunts, Jeannie McKenzie of McBee, SC, Ashley McKenzie of McBee, SC; uncle, Brian (Janie) Hancock of Hartsville, SC; cousins, Gracie Newsome of McBee, SC, Raegan Newsome of McBee, SC; and numerous other cousins; godmother (cousin), Melissa "Missy" Hall of Hartsville, SC; her friends, Amanda Johnson of Loris, SC, Jessi Martin of Hartsville, SC, Rachel Blackwell of Cheraw, SC, and Mary (Joe) Taylor of Cheraw, SC. She was preceded in death by her father, Christopher "Chris" Allen Wilkes; her paternal grandmother, Susie Dixon Hancock; and her maternal grandmother, Annie-Laura McKenzie.
