It is with deep sorrow that the Weber family announces the death of their beloved father, Mr. John Henry Weber, Jr., 85. Mr. Weber, the widow of Carolyn Davis Weber, entered into rest on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 2 o'clock on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in The Chapel of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home, with Rev. Steven Daniel Curry Gallego officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to Crescent Hospice, 696 Medical Park Drive, Hartsville, SC 29550. Mr. Weber was born on July 10, 1939, in Summerville, SC. He was the son of the late John Henry Weber Sr. and the late Frances Smith Weber. A graduate of Summerville High School, he played in the marching band and marched in the Cherry Blossom Parade in Washington, DC. He attended Newberry College, where he met his wife-to-be. He attended MUSC School of Pharmacy and graduated from Auburn University. He and his new family moved to Hartsville in 1962, where he worked at Economy Drugs until 1964 when he became a partner in Medical Arts Pharmacy until 1975. He retired from CVS Pharmacy in Hartsville in 2019 at the age of 78. A member of the Jaycees, he was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, serving a term as president. He was a member of the Hartsville Rescue Squad and a partner in the S & W Ambulance Service. He was a charter member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church and a member of the choir. He served multiple terms on the church council and several terms as president, leading services when the church was without a full-time pastor. He was a longtime fan of NASCAR, Gamecock Basketball, and Football. An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed singing, playing the trumpet, dancing the Shag, and traveling. He is survived by his daughter, MaryBelinda (Rob) Horton of Latta, SC; son, John Henry Weber, III of Hartsville, SC; sister, Sheila Weber Haas of Blythewood, SC; sister-in-law, Linda (Dave) Pauley of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Andrew (Kimberly) Garner of Hartsville, SC, Zachary (Vanessa) Garner of Hartsville, SC, Joseph Alex (Jax) Britt of Hartsville, SC; great-grandchildren, Quinn Garner, Rorey Garner, Lukas Garner, and Gillian Garner.
