Mr. John Brewer "Joe" Kelly

It is with deep sorrow that Mrs. Ann Gillus Turner Kelly announces the death of her beloved husband, John Brewer "Joe" Kelly, 86. Mr. Kelly entered into rest on Friday, August 26, 2022. The Directors of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 12 o'clock on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, in St. Andrew Church of God, with the Rev. Scott Hodge officiating. A committal service will follow in St. Andrew Church of God Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Monday, August 29, 2022, at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at the Kelly Residence: 455 Elmore Road, Bishopville, SC 29010. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to the St. Andrew Church of God Parking Lot Fund, 4238 Red Hill Road, Camden, SC 29020, or to the Lee County Animal Shelter, 222 Airport Road, Bishopville, SC 29010. Mr. Kelly was born in Kershaw County, SC, on October 24, 1935. He was the son of the late George "Cap" Haney Kelly of Kelleytown, SC, and the late Lottie "Louise" Peach Kelly Elmore of Bishopville, SC. He married his loving wife, Ann Gillus Turner, on April 15, 1956, at Salem Methodist Church located on Jamestown Road in Lee County, SC. Mr. Kelly was a retired farmer who farmed in Sumter and Lee Counties. He loved farming and produced peanuts, soybeans, wheat, and corn. He was a member of St. Andrew Church of God on Red Hill Road in Camden, SC. He was very active and served on several boards until his retirement. He was devoted to his family and friends and spent his retirement years caring for and loving his wife of over 60 years. He will be missed by all. He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Gillus Turner Kelly of Bishopville, SC; sons, John Brewer Kelly, Jr. of Bishopville, SC, Russell "Russ" Denny (Caroline) Kelly of Bishopville, SC; daughter, Cynthia A. "Cindy" (Steven "Mark") Davis of Bishopville, SC; brother, Claude S. Elmore of Bishopville, SC; sister, Claudett Louise Elmore Collins of Bishopville, SC; grandchildren, Kelly Ann (Sarah) Davis of Camden, SC, Nolan Andrew Davis of Camden, SC, Jonathan Turner (Katie) Kelly of Bishopville, SC, Christopher Blake Kelly of Bishopville, SC, Russell Denny "Rusty" (Kacey Gainey) Kelly Jr. of Hartsville, SC, Madeline Josee Kelly of Bishopville, SC; eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Alexander "Pete" Elmore; sister, Katie Elizabeth Elmore Smart. Serving as pallbearers will be: Craig Nesbit, Dean Elmore, Brian Elmore, Ron Davis, Mike Watkins, and Billy Smith.
