Jarick Henderson

This obituary is posted as courtesy to local family and friends. James Richard “Jarick” Henderson, 18, of Society Hill entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 following injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina on May 18, 2004, the son of Jeremiah Wayne Henderson and Polly Anne Hayes Henderson. Jarick was a recent graduate of McBee High School, where he was the manager for the McBee Panthers basketball team and participated on the track team. Basketball was Jarick’s favorite sport, and he could often be found playing basketball with his friends, watching it on television or playing a basketball game on his gaming device. A huge Utah Jazz fan, he looked forward to watching as many games as he could, and he loved the color purple. Following his graduation from high school, he began working at Bill’s Grill Café and was looking forward to attending college and getting a degree in theology. Jarick was very talented and many of his drawings and writings were very creative. He was a loving son, grandson, and brother and was very protective of his family. Although Jarick left this world far too soon, he left this world a better place. He was blessed to grow up in a loving Christian home surrounded by family that introduced him to the Lord at an early age. Along with his faith, he had an enormous heart, and he used this to impact the lives of many others. You did not have to be around Jarick long to see that he had the love of Jesus in him and that he lived his faith. He attended Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Patrick, South Carolina. Jarick was greeted in heaven by his maternal grandfather, James D. “Jimmy” Hayes. In addition to his parents, Jarick is survived by two sisters, Savannah Catherine Henderson and Casey Kelley Henderson of Society Hill, his maternal grandmother, Cathy Hayes of Ninety Six, SC, paternal grandparents, Reverend Dr. Richard Henderson and his wife, Billie of Westminster, SC; a paternal great-grandmother, Nettie Carol Kelley of Meadow Creek, WV; aunts, Jamie Cunningham (Jason) of Ninety Six, Jennifer Brummett (Jason) of Galivants Ferry and Joanna Elvington (Reverend Robin) of Lake View; an uncle, Reverend Daniel Henderson (Christa) of Hartsville, and numerous cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2022 in the sanctuary of Hoffmeyer Road Baptist Church in Florence, South Carolina. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the sanctuary. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Nichols.
