Mrs. Jane Coker Dunlap

Jane Coker Dunlap, 96, died peacefully at her home on October 2, 2019. She was born and lived most of her life in Hartsville, SC. She was the daughter of the late Kathleen McNair Coker and Samuel Pressly Coker, Sr. She was a graduate of Hartsville High School and Winthrop College. After college, she worked in a doctor's office in Charlotte for a few years, and during cotton harvest, she enjoyed working at Humphrey Coker Cotton Gin with her father and brothers. Jane was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hartsville, where she served on many committees. She also delivered Meals on Wheels for years. She is survived by daughters, Martha D Hamlett (Will) of Chapel Hill, NC, Katherine D Moore and Jenny D Rogers of Hartsville; son, Charles Kirkland Dunlap III (Deborah) of Society Hill, SC; son-in-law, David J O'Connor of Arlington, VA; grandchildren Kathleen Hamlett of Elkhart, IN, Alex Hamlett (Jessica) of Parker, CO, Janie Acosta (Luigi) and Robert Moore (Tasha) of Hartsville, Kate Colgan (Randy) of Salt Lake City, UT, Daniel O'Connor of Arlington, VA, Lee Rogers (Mary Kate) of Bishopville, SC, Charles K Rogers and Rebecca Ivie (Landon) of Hartsville; great-grandchildren, Alexis Hamlett, Lucas Hamlett, Chloe Moore, Charley Moore,Isabel Moore, Mills Moore, Ella Gray Camak, Eliza Byrd, Flora Byrd, Carlos Acosta, Lock Rogers, Rachel Rogers, and Sam Coker Rogers. She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy years, Charles Kirkland Dunlap, Jr.; daughter, Betsy O'Connor; son in law, T-Bone Moore; grandson, Hayes Hamlett; brothers, John Wilson Coker, Samuel Pressly Coker, Jr; sisters, Flora C Berry, Katie C Marvin. A graveside service will be held in Magnolia Cemetery, Hartsville, SC, on Friday, October 4, 2019, at 11:00 am. The Rev, Ashley Creek will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 3, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the home of Kathy Moore, 1346 West Carolina Ave., Hartsville.
