It is with deep sorrow that the Moore family announces the death of Mr. Howard Edward Moore, Jr., 86. Mr. Moore entered into rest on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 5 o'clock on Thursday, August 24, 2023, in the Hartsville Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to Habitat for Humanity, 120 W. Washington Street, Hartsville, SC 29550. Hartsville has bid farewell to a beloved son, Howard E. Moore Jr., who passed away on August 22, 2023. Born on July 14, 1937, he was the son of the late Howard and Louise Matheson Moore. His journey through life was one of profound faith, unwavering dedication, and boundless creativity. Howard's early years were marked by a deep connection to his church and a commitment to service as an Eagle Scout. His involvement in scouting left an indelible mark on his life, as he continued to contribute to the scouting community for decades, inspiring and guiding young minds as a dedicated scout leader. Education played a pivotal role in Howard's life. His academic pursuits also led him to Georgia Tech, where he pursued studies in chemistry, further expanding his intellectual horizons and thirst for knowledge he attended the University of South Carolina and graduated with a major in Mathematics. For over three decades, Howard lent his talents to the Sonoco Products Company, where his contributions went beyond his professional responsibilities. His work ethic, dedication, and passion left an enduring legacy within the company and the broader business community. Beyond the realms of his professional life, Howard was a true Renaissance man. His hands were skilled in the art of wood carving and lutherie, demonstrating his artistic prowess and meticulous attention to detail. These crafts allowed him to create timeless pieces that will continue to inspire awe and admiration. However, what truly defined Howard was his unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus and boundless kindness. From his youth, he radiated the love and spirit of the Lord, touching the lives of those around him. His generosity knew no bounds, and his kind nature was a beacon of light to all who had the privilege of knowing him. In 1959, Howard met his beloved wife of 64 years, Henrietta (Hen) Chapman, who was attending Coker College. Their love story became a testament to the enduring power of love and partnership. Their journey together was marked by shared dreams, unwavering support, and the creation of a loving family. Howard is survived by his cherished wife, Henrietta, and their three sons, Howard III (Betsy), Jimmy, and Keith (Tyra), who carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. He is also survived by his grandchildren Howard IV, Jessica (Paul), Rachel, Jacob, and his great-grandchild Harley, each a testament to the love and nurturing that defined his role as a husband, father, and grandfather. As we mourn the loss of a remarkable individual, let us also celebrate a life well-lived and a spirit that will continue to shine brightly in our hearts. The impact of Howard E.
