It is with deep sorrow that the Taylor family announces the death of their beloved father, Mr. Henry Owens Taylor, Sr., 78. Mr. Taylor, the widower of Victoria Snyder "Vickie" Taylor, entered into rest on Friday, January 10, 2025. The Directors of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home & Crematory are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 2 o'clock on Monday, January 13, 2025, in The Chapel of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The Rev. Danny Holley will officiate with burial to follow in Swift Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 pm on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in his honor to The Matthew Webb Moore Scholarship Fund, 338 Birchwood Drive, Hartsville, SC 29550, or The Dylan Adams Endowment, PO Box 1902, Hartsville, SC 29551. Mr. Taylor was born on Thursday, November 14, 1946, in Hartsville, SC. He is the son of the late Lucius Henry Taylor and the late Irene Middleton Taylor. Henry was the pharmacist at Byerly Hospital and also co-owner of Medical Arts Pharmacy with his good friend Mike Rast. He had a very strong work ethic, but when not working, he enjoyed time with his family. He loved taking his family on cruises and vacations. He also loved following his grandson around to all his ballgames. He loved horses and never missed a chance to talk about them. He was a devoted husband to his high school sweetheart, Vickie. They shared many adventures together in their 54-year marriage. After losing his wife in January 2023, Henry was lost. His relationship with his youngest granddaughter, Ruthie, however, brought him much joy. It was a very special bond and a beautiful thing to watch. He is survived by his son, Henry "Happy" Owens Taylor, Jr. (Lisa), of Darlington, SC; daughter, Nicole "Nicki" Taylor (Brandon Moody) of Hartsville, SC; grandchildren, Hayley (Richard) Taylor Smith, Kathryn Victoria Taylor, Owen Nicholas Taylor, Victoria Ruth "Ruthie" Moody; three great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Brownie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vickie. The Taylor family would like to say a special thank you to Mr. Lee Jackson for the wonderful care he took of our Daddy / Pa Hen. Many thanks also to Agape Hospice and, especially, Christy Hyatt for helping us keep him comfortable at home.
